WRECKHOUSE DRIVE-IN

Welcome to the Wreckhouse Drive-In!

I built a miniature drive-in movie theatre diorama, and shot a silly short film with it.

Though the Drive-In is a fictional theatre, the landscape is based on a real place. The "Wreckhouse" is a notorious stretch of highway in the Southwestern region of Newfoundland, Canada. I chose this area, as it is nestled between the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and the beautiful Codroy Valley Mountains, which is where my mom is from. It is famous for its dangerously high winds that can reach up to 200km/hr, knocking over large 18-wheeler trucks, and even derailing trains when the Newfie Bullet still existed. So I thought, Heck, this would be the perfect setting for a miniature Drive-In...

I was even able to convince comedian, Mike Lynch, from St. John's, Newfoundland, to voice a portion of it, and he NAILED it!

All in all, it was such a fun project to make, that I then got to premiere on YouTube, and hundreds of people tuned in live to watch it together. It even made it's way onto the Newfoundland News (NTV)! Such a blast!
